FRISCO, Texas – Northwestern State guard Jairus Roberson is the Southland Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, the league announced Sunday.  Roberson averaged 21 points a game on 46.2 percent shooting to power the Demons to two big wins last week, clinching a conference tournament berth for the Demons for the first time since the 2014-15 season. With an average margin of victory of 18.5 points, the Demons defeated New Orleans 95-73 on Wednesday and reached triple-digits in the 100-85 win over Central Arkansas on Saturday to claim their tourney bid.center_img Men’s Basketball Player of the Week – Jairus Roberson, Northwestern State – Junior – Guard – DeSoto, TexasRoberson dropped 19 points in Wednesday’s win over New Orleans, draining four of his eight three-point attempts and sinking all five tries from the free-throw line. He followed it up with a 23-point outing against Central Arkansas, shooting 7-of-15 from the field and nailing a season-high five three-pointers. The Trinity Valley Community College transfer scored in double-digits in each of the final four games of the season, averaging 19.3 points per contest.last_img
